Happy Thursday! This week has flown by. Every day I planned on sitting my butt down to write a post but I never got around to it. Same thing happened to my workouts. It’s just been one of those weeks.
Tuesday was Valentine’s Day. Definitely one my favorite holidays. All about love, hugs, and happy hearts! I was greeted at work by flowers from Maggie, my pup! The Husband dropped them off before I got to the office.
We went out for drinks and dinner as well Tuesday night and we had a blast! It was so nice to eat out. We went to a Key West restaurant so I had some lovely Mahi! I will definitely be eating there again soon. No good pictures to show but I did manage to snap one!
Yesterday, we were both feeling a bit off and I actually ate dinner and then fell asleep on the couch. Still not feeling 100% today but I have almost made it through the week. Nothing a little coffee won’t fix.
I did try something new this week. I made Mama Pea’s Mmmm Sauce and I definitely licked the spoon! While I still enjoy my cheese, this is definitely going to make it into a rotation for me. The Husband won’t touch it so that means more for me! So far it’s made its way into a salad and onto my tacos. I can’t wait to put it on roasted veggies.
Day and a half until a 3 day weekend!
So my job has a wonky schedule which generally affords me a day off when everyone else is in the office. This time, the husband and I decided to take a short trip for Valentine’s day into the mountains. The roads were not great and it was super cold but we braved it anyway (the room was already paid for!).
First, we were off to Blackhawk, CO! This place is a mini Vegas in a canyon in the mountains.

We stayed at the Isle and had a blast playing the penny slots and drinking free cocktails! And since the weather was not cooperating, the casino was empty and we got to sit in a very comfortable casino. We’ll be heading back on the 19th to hopfully claim a big prize, an Audi! You must be present to win and I hope that everyone else forgets. I never win anything…
On Wednesday morning, we headed to Eldora Mountain Resort for a little skiing.

And because it was a school day and super cold, we were the only ones there! Not really but it sure felt like it. It was a good day to practice falling on the Blue Runs! Once we felt sufficiently frozen and beat up, we headed in for lunch at the bar. Once warmed up, we tried a little more skiing and then back to the real world.
We picked up the pup from the puppy sitter and got home. We all collapsed on the couch under the blankets and there we stayed! Love my middle of the week vacations!
Kicked it off with a not so exciting night. The Husband had to wake me and the puppy up for New Years. At least I made it to East Coast Midnight! Watched a lot of Anderson Cooper and Kathy Griffin and passed out…
My New Years Companions
Next we found out that we were not going to be invited into the beer club. I was sad but not entirely upset. The Husband has decided that he will continue to drink their beer (at home… from a six pack). He has told some of the bar staff as much and it seems that several of them are also disappointed. It’s good to know someone was voting for us but it just wasn’t enough this time. There’s always next year!
Glass is more than half empty... sad
Work has been busy but not making a ton of progress. I am told this will also improve. I hope that means my paycheck will also see an upward trend!
The Husband and I have set up our Valentine’s week full of exciting outings. We have tickets to the Avalanche/Penguins game that week courtesy of the inlaws! We have also set up a special weekend up in Blackhawk to gamble and ski. Should be a blast!
While 2011 has not been as great as it should be, it can only get better. After 2 and a half weeks, how is your 2011?
