Happy Wineday! Wanted to point you all in the direction of amazing bliss this week. We have been going to the same wine store for just about 2 years now and the owner/budding sommelier definitely has learned our taste buds. We gave her a mini challenge a few weeks ago. White wine for a fun weekend, no food pairing necessary, under $40. She came up with several delicious options and she said that the Farrell was definitely the star. We grabbed a bottle of the Gary Farrell Chardonnay 2007 Carneros Collection and enjoyed. I can’t believe how complex this wine is while still being a fun weekend wine. If you don’t want to think about what you are tasting, you can enjoy the fruit and the slightly aged flavor. If you do want to analyze it, so many flavors of roasty oats and nuts come out from behind the shadows.
We loved this wine so much, we went back and got a second bottle to stash in the cooler. It is such a pleasant wine without being overly powerful. It was definitely a Chardonnay that the Husband and I can agree on (and that usually doesn’t happen).
