There are a few movies that mean that Christmas is here. I am a purist when it comes to holiday movies and music. Not a single note of music is played or a minute of a movie watched until the turkey leftovers are safely nestled away in the fridge. But as soon as that happens, you bet I am playing the Mariah Carey Christmas CD and setting my DVR to record the 25 Days of Christmas. Here are a few movies that help me get inspired to wear red and green!
Life and Adventures of Santa Claus
This is my all time favorite! Who doesn’t love new toys, the Great Ack, and a young Santa? ABC Family does a Rankin Bass day for their 25 Days of Christmas and I already have my DVR set for this one.
Charlie Brown Christmas.
This was a tradition growing up. i have it on DVD and it is on the list of things to do this weekend.
Holiday Inn
While this movie isn’t just about Christmas, there is plenty of snow and snuggling and a fresh round of ‘White Christmas’ sung by Mr. Bing Crosby.
White Christmas
This one speaks for itself. Who doesn’t love a big production to save an old hotel?
The Year without Santa Claus
Another Rankin Bass classic. While the story itself isn’t my favorite, the song is pretty catchy. Only listen if you are ready to have a song stuck in your head the rest of the day!
And the husband’s favorite… National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation
This one is torture for me but I have watched it every year on Thanksgiving night to usher in the new season.
How do you celebrate the Holidays? Is there a certain tradition that means it’s time to party for you?
