Let’s admit it! Sometimes you just want to have a beer. You don’t want to think about the notes in the beer, the hops that were used, or which beer you should be pairing with your Thanksgiving Turkey (check out this link if you are concerned about your Turkey).
And now there is brewery in Boulder County that has the answer. Finkel and Garf in Gunbarrel is providing quality beer and snacks galore! Nothing too fancy and everything you forgot you loved. Don’t believe me, check out the menu board (and wall of snacks!).
When we settled in at the bar, my first question was to find out what the snacks were about. I’ve seen pretzels at a bar but Slim Jims and Spam? The answer to my question was that too many people take beer too seriously. The snacks were meant to lighten the mood and make you think differently about beer. And then we were handed the house pairing!
Just a few pictures for you to take in all of the snack pairings. My favorite pairing, you ask? Well, that would be the Twinkie and the Milk Stout. I was very skeptical but the bartender said to dip it. And I did… I don’t think I would go out of my way for the pairing but it was really pretty good.
Overall, I think this is going to be a great place to bring family when everyone is in town. They have a couple of sodas on tap for those who aren’t old enough to partake and plenty of snacks for everyone to try. The beer was good and the concept was unique. Definitely a home run for a one of a kind brewery in Boulder County!
