What are you tapping your toes to?

It’s almost the 4th and that means a long weekend of family time and outdoor eating! I’ve got a few new recipes to try and I will definitely be soaking up the sun. If you are looking for a little musical inspiration to get you through the last few hours of the this work week, check out my July Spotify list!

And if I don’t have wi-fi on the patio tomorrow, enjoy the fireworks!

A musical Friday

Sadly, I’m not on my way to Park City today!  You’ll all have to fill me in when you get back.

It’s been a crazy week settling back in after my surprise vacation.  Thought I would just share a few tunes with you for your Friday drive home!

Easter 2014 in Snapshots

Easter 2014 was spent outside!  We did brunch, we walked the dog, we hit some balls, we saw a band (at a brewery on Easter!), and we ended with dessert by the fire.  An almost perfect day!  Here’s a few snapshots to share!

Day 18… we still haven’t found any coffee

So it’s been 18 days on the cleanse.  There have been a few stumbles but I have held strong against coffee.  Today has been particularly tough.  I woke up wanting a doughnut from Tee and Cakes and a latte!  I don’t feel well and I just want some comfort food and a nap!

Since today is tough, let’s focus on the good stuff!

Of course, this makes me smile

And this!  (I don’t even mind the rain, just look at the numbers!)

And finally, this.

That’s right! Brunch! I am throwing all food rules and cleanse restrictions (except coffee, because I don’t to do that detox again anytime soon!) and enjoying everything the Colterra Brunch menu has to offer!  And then, we are having Easter dinner too.  I can’t wait for Sunday!

If you celebrate Easter, I give you my early “He is Risen” and if you don’t, enjoy your chocolate bunnies and jelly beans!

Finally, we can say TGIF

So even though it was 70  degrees yesterday, the weather person on the news today mentioned that we are getting ready for another two inches of snow tomorrow.  Isn’t winter over?  Isn’t it almost April?  I am out of lift tickets so I have no more interest in the snow!  Bring on the flowers!

We are in cleaning and fixing up mode for Spring which means we need some tunes for the basement!  Time for another spotify playlist!

Already January 8th…

So every day I have rolled off the air mattress and stared down my computer screen with the little blinking cursor and nothing has come to mind.  I’ve had grand plans to write down my plans for 2014.  I am usually not one for resolutions but each year I try to set small goals for myself.  And this year, I don’t really have a goal in mind.  I know that I still want to shed the unwanted weight, eat, better, be nicer, save more money… but we know how that goes.

All I really want for 2014 is to feel better.  I wake up every morning wishing it were Saturday and I came home every night and immediately switch to flannel pants before making dinner.  I don’t need to spring out of bed every day but most of the week would be nice.  And adding fitness back into the routine wouldn’t be so bad either.  I have a flexible job with a gym in the basement.  I have zero excuse to be this lazy all the time.

One thing that has really improved my mood are my headphones and some good playlists on Spotify.  Music always has a way of lifting me out of whatever funk I find myself in.  Any suggestions?

Happy New Year (finally)!

Kim

Thanks Paige! Time for a little Sunshine Award

Last week the lovely Paige nominated me for a little Sunshine Award.

Here are the Rules:

1. Include award logo in a post or on your blog.
2. Link to the person who nominated you.
3. Answer 10 questions about yourself.
4. Nominate 10 bloggers to receive the award and ask them 10 questions.

And here we go!

1. do you believe in aliens? why or why not.

There has to be something out there, right???  Would be pretty crazy to think we were the only things around!

2. if you could do ANYTHING in the world and have that be your career and your skills, paycheck, or anything else was not an object.. what would you do?

I would love to spend my time traveling and learning about beer.  I’m completely intrigued by it.  The fact that monks brewed it to keep monasteries open and we brew it today for enjoyment.  Incredible!

3. When you were little, what did you want to be when you grew up?

First I wanted to be a lawyer, then a medical researcher, and then I wanted to be a pastor for a while… Definitely different from what I am doing now!

4. what’s for dinner tonight?

Tonight is chicken stirfry.  Great reminder to get the chicken out to defrost!

5. what was the most fabulous vacation you have ever been on in your entire life?

Barbados was the best!  I went on my own and had an amazing time living the island life!  Some day I will have to tell you the story of my beach day where I found my favorite cocktail of all time!

142_517597254173_8654_n[1]

  6. if you HAD to give up one of your senses (touch, taste, sight, hearing, or smell) which would it be?

Smell is probably what I would choose as long as my taste stays in tact!  The smell of nasty garbage is something no one should have to suffer.

7. Favorite TV show?

My favorite show of all time (right now) has to be Six Feet Under.  Dexter didn’t due Michael C. Hall justice.

8. why did you start blogging?

I wanted to share pictures and stories with friends and family who were too far away.  It’s such a great way to communicate with those I care about by really taking the time to edit photos and thoughtfully put together posts about what we have been up to!

9. what was the last compliment you received and what was the last one you paid to someone?

The last compliment I received was that I was totally organized and ahead of the game!  The last compliment I gave out was to a co-worker with a fantastic new haircut!

10. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?

I would move to Barbados (see question 5) and take up island living!
