It feels like I have been living in a gray fog since Sunday night. Last weekend I was able to spend the weekend with this cutie, and of course the rest of the family! Isn’t she cute??
What I didn’t expect was for the Iowa weather to trigger my Iowa allergies. I have been recovering all week from a massive sinus infection that came with two ear infections as well! I can’t remember the last time my allergies knocked me out this hard. Luckily (note the sarcasm), I am getting on a plane tomorrow for a work trip the Big Easy!
Hopefully one more night of sleep and a few more doses of my meds will have me feeling much better. Back on Monday with some beer travels and hopefully I can share some NOLA pictures with you too!

A few weeks back I had the opportunity to visit Fresca Foods and 34 Degrees.
We got the opportunity to see the super secret process of how these ultra thin crackers are made and we were even able to try some brand new, not even available yet flavors. If everything goes according to plan, these 2 new flavors should be available to snack on later this summer. The best part of my visit was bringing home the snacks to share with my family.
We regularly have the Husband’s parents over for dinner and I thought a quick appetizer plate would be a great way to round out the Chicken Ceasar salads! I ran out for some supplies and got started.
One of the best part of these crackers is that they go with everything! They are thin but sturdy crackers so they can hold up to all kinds of toppings. I had all four flavors to sample but my favorite was definitely the rosemary!
I laid out a few samples of cucumbers and goat cheese on wheat and salami, cheese, and tomato on the natural. Of course, I just put all of the options on some plates and let everyone create what they wanted. We had a great time trying different flavors and combinations. The 34 Degree crackers were definitely the star and we polished off most of the samples.
Do you want to win your own 34 Degrees Crackers? Just enter my letting me know your favorite go to summer appetizer below! The winner will be selected on May 28th!

After several days of restful vacation (one very ungraceful fall down the stairs in the pool), it’s time for the Husband and I to get back into the swing of things. As I have told you before, we are planners so the workouts get scheduled as well. Let me tell you what I’m up to this week!
Monday – Took Maggie for a short walk to ease back in.
Can’t we just stay on the couch?
Tuesday – Still recovering from pain in my hip and derriere so it was another Maggie walk. 2.5 miles today
Wednesday – Trying out a new Yoga studio. I won a free month of yoga a while back (almost two months) and I still haven’t used it. I can’t wait to get in there and stretch everything out. I’ll have to let you know how everything goes
Thursday – Looks like this is my running day this week. I kind of fell off the running track after the BolderBoulder but I’m ready to get going again. I have a feeling that this will be slow… very slow.
Friday – Quick Fitness Blender in the morning and a dog walk. Have you seen these people on YouTube? Really liking the format.
Saturday – TRAVEL DAY. Heading to Chicago for a few days. Hopefully the hotel I’m at has a workable gym.
As you can probably tell, I’ve noticed that my clothes are tighter than I’d like (and it’s not the washer/dryer’s fault) and I don’t want anyone to see me in a swimsuit. I’m ready to get my act together and shed my extra layer. Hopefully I can keep you posted with some positive progress. Definitely not a weight loss blog but I feel that professing things out loud helps me to focus.
Any tips for mixing up your workouts?
So this weekend, we had some family in town. What I love about family visits is that we get to be tourists in our own town. Within an hour of their arrival, we were off to City Star to enjoy tasty beers and Quirky Country Music Bingo with Sharon Glassman and Grant McIntosh. As the Husband’s family is West Virginia based, it was easy to recognize the songs and sing along! We had a blast.
We also did some mountain exploring. No hiking this weekend but some great pictures of the last bits of snow. Can’t wait to get back to Brainard Lake and do a little hiking this summer.
There was some adventure (a lost phone) and some soreness (I jogged/walked the BolderBoulder) but we had an amazing time and I can’t wait to explore our hometown with them this summer.
Do you ever play tour guide? Where do you like to take your out of town guests? I love to take them to food trucks and see what they pick!
Definitely will be sharing my BolderBoulder experience later on this week!

1. I saw this last night and I haven’t stopped laughing!
2. I still cannot get over how amazing Blend was this year. Love the location, the people, and the community. If you’re curious, just google search #blend2013 and check out all of the amazing things that happened in Park City.
3. I’ve been listening to the What’s New section of Spotify and I found this great song. Take a listen, you won’t regret it.
4. I get to spend the weekend with some lovely ladies this weekend too! This time it’s of a family nature. The Husband’s mother and aunt are in the car on their way to Colorado. Can’t wait to spend time introducing his aunt to the Fr0nt Range! I always have such a good time when we have family in town!
And finally! 5.
The weather is fantastic!! I can’t wait to spend the entire weekend outside!!
What are you doing to celebrate the holiday weekend?? I will be running the BolderBoulder on Monday… Maybe I’ll see you there!
